FEATURED PROJECT: 2022-PRESENT

Operation Octopus – My Cybersecurity Lab, Technical Playground & SE Launchpad

Operation Octopus is my personal cybersecurity lab and sales-engineering sandbox — a place where I turn technical projects into clear, business-focused stories.

Summary

OperationOctopus.com started as a simple cybersecurity lab blog.

But over time, it’s evolved into something much bigger — my personal “demo environment”.
It’s part blog, part technical lab, part storytelling hub… and part sales page for me.

This is where I merge my technical foundation (IT, cybersecurity, cloud), my entrepreneurial ventures (SaaS, marketing, flipping), and my sales engineering pivot into a single, cohesive narrative.

Think of it as a living proof-of-concept:

🧠 Technical depth + 🧭 Strategic storytelling + 💼 Revenue mindset.

Problem / Opportunity

Resumes are flat.
LinkedIn is static.

But in sales engineering, what wins isn’t just a bullet list — it’s how well you communicate value.

So I decided to build something different: a personal technical brand that not only shows my skills but also sells my ability to sell.

  • A place to showcase past cybersecurity & IT projects.
  • A platform to publish sales engineering and cyber blogs.
  • A centralized story that connects my career arc — from enterprise IT → SaaS entrepreneur → SE.

Solution / What I Built

  • 🧪 Cybersecurity Lab Hub — Hands-on projects in SIEM, vulnerability management, Azure Sentinel, honeypots, packet analysis, and pen testing.
  • 📊 Sales Engineering Storytelling Platform — I turn technical lessons and projects into clear, business-outcome narratives.
  • 🚀 Entrepreneurship Archive — Pages that highlight ventures like FlippAI, The Flipping Ninja, Intelligent Muscle, and real estate marketing.
  • ✍️ Content Engine — Blog where I publish breakdowns of security concepts, SE strategy, and real-world applications.
  • 💼 Sales Asset — A living resume, proof of thought leadership, and a conversation starter during interviews.

Process & Story

I built this platform the same way I’d build a POC for a customer:

  • Defined the problem — traditional resumes don’t show depth or story.
  • Identified the buyer — in this case, hiring managers, SE leaders, founders.
  • Mapped out the solution architecture — technical blog + SE storytelling + project demos.
  • Designed a content strategy — not to impress with buzzwords, but to show how I think.
  • And finally… I built it.

Every lab write-up, SaaS venture, and security breakdown is crafted like a sales engineering demo:

👉 Context. Problem. Solution. Why it matters.

This way, when someone visits my site, they don’t just see a resume… they experience my thinking process.

Featured Technical Projects

  • 🧰 SIEM Lab (Security Onion) — Built a home SOC to monitor and analyze live network attacks.
  • 🌍 Azure Sentinel Honeypot — Tracked global attack patterns with custom PowerShell scripts and visualization.
  • 🐞 Nessus Vulnerability Management — Ran full lifecycle: discover, assess, remediate, verify.
  • 🧠 MITRE ATT&CK Use Cases — Applied frameworks to threat detection and reporting.

Sales Engineering Tie-In

This isn’t just a tech blog.
This is my SE sandbox — where I:

  • Translate complex technical concepts into plain language.
  • Practice structuring technical stories the way I’d present to a prospect.
  • Demonstrate how I approach discovery, build solutions, and communicate outcomes.

Example: A blog on SIEM alerting isn’t just “here’s how I set it up.”
It’s “here’s how this helps a security team reduce time-to-detect and protect revenue.”

That’s SE thinking.

Impact / Results

  • 15+ technical lab projects documented.
  • Central hub connecting 10+ years of IT, cybersecurity, and SaaS ventures.
  • Reframed my personal brand into a Sales Engineer Hybrid identity.
  • Acts as a live interview differentiator and credibility booster.

Sales Engineer Takeaway

Most people talk about what they’ve done.
I wanted to build a platform that shows it.

OperationOctopus.com isn’t just my personal website — it’s my strategic sales asset.
It’s how I demo me.
